SAMUEL S. CARR (American, 1837-1908) BOY WITH HIS DOG. Outstanding oil on canvas scene shows a young boy with pink shirt, gray pants and light gray cap holding dog in arms as he wades across stream. Dirt cart path leads through field into wooded edge. Low hills beyond. Light white clouds in a blue sky. The boy’s bare legs reflect in the calm stream water. Signed lower left “S S Carr”. Housed in a magnificent antique gilt frame with fancy corner embellishments. Two English canvas stamps to back of canvas. A nicely rendered painting. SIZE: 16” x 12”. CONDITION: Four small patches to reverse of canvas and corresponding inpainting to spots. Very good. 9-98891 (10,000-15,000)
