*CONNECTICUT SHOTGUN COMPANY FOX FE SPECIAL GRADE DBL BBL SHOTGUN. Cal. 28 ga. SN F205825. Spectacular tiny lightweight dbl with 26″ bbls choked FULL/MOD with tapered concave matted rib, dbl ivory beads with gold band at rear of rib & narrow gold bands at chamber & muzzle ends of bbls. Right bbl is marked in gold “MADE TO ORDER, A.H. FOX” and left bbl in gold “KRUPP-FLUID-STEEL”. Receiver is spectacularly engraved with deep chisel relief foliate & floral arabesque engraving patterns with a gold duck on left side, a gold mallard on right side, a gold woodcock on bottom and a gold valley quail on floorplate. There is a gold pigeon on opening lever pivot. All the edges & sides of receiver & top tang have a fine gold wire border. Top tang has “S” in a circle in gold & serial number is in gold on bottom tang & water table. Engraving extends about 2″ over chamber areas of bbls & 1″ on each side of muzzles. Water table & bbl flat also are engraved in gold “FE SPECIAL”. Bbl flat also has serial number & “28 GA. 2 3/4″ in gold. Each side of receiver has a gold ribbon with maker’s name. It is stocked with extremely highly figured exhibition quality Circassian walnut with checkered & relief carved beavertail forearm with straight stock, 14-1/2″ over a checkered butt. Stock has carved side panels with fleur-de-lis & foliate patterns in front of checkering and completely around tip of lower tang. Accompanied by its orig hang tag, warranty paper & other factory papers. Also accompanied by its orig factory chocolate brown, maroon felt lined trunk case with nickeled oil bottle and manufacturer’s label in the lid. It has orig canvas & leather cover. Drop at heel: 2-1/2″, drop at comb: 1-1/2”. Bore restrictions: left – .020, right – .012. Unable to measure wall thickness. Bore diameter: left – .536, right – .543. Weight: 5 lbs. 5.76 oz. CONDITION: Extraordinarily fine. Retains virtually all of its orig factory finish to both metal & wood, appears to be unfired with a minor scrape on standing breach. Crisp mechanics.
