EARLY CLOCKWORK IVES ALLIGATOR. Featured in the 1880 Ives Blakeslee catalog, this subtle yet ferocious reptile came in two versions. The first, as shown, and the second with a black boy riding upon his back. A most unique and interesting early toy with lifelike actions when wound (spring sprung), this toy is in exceptional original condition, and a rare opportunity for a collector. SIZE: 21″ l. CONDITION: Overall is near excellent. Most likely this version had a black youth on his back, which is no longer present. 1-8950 APT (1,500-2,500)
