*SPECTACULAR & RARE FOX MINIATURE DBL RIFLE. Cal. 22 LR. SN EXP1. Fabulous little dbl rifle, one of only ten made by Tony Galazan the A.H. Fox Gun Co.(Connecticut Shotgun Co.) only on special order. This spectacular little rifle has 22″ dangerous game styled bbls with ramp mounted caterpillar front sight & fixed ramp mounted express rear sight, cross bolt rib extension, ejectors & gold plated dbl triggers. Receiver is miniature, typical Fox shaped boxlock with triple scalloped back edges & full coverage spectacular engraving consisting of vignettes of a squirrel & frog on left side, two rabbits on right side & 2-color gold squirrel on limb with gold leaves & a wide & narrow scalloped gold border on the bottom. Each side of receiver, near front edge, has maker’s name on a tiny ribbon with a mouse on top. Trigger bow has a standing gold woodchuck & another gold woodchuck peeking out of his hole, all with very detailed well-executed background. Entire receiver & raised side panels have gold wire borders. Top tang has “SAFE” in gold, the opening lever pivot has a squirrel & all have gold wire borders. Recessed fences have a raised rib around bottom rear edges. Bottom tang is engraved to match with serial number in gold & a gold wire border. Engraving patterns extend about 2″ over chamber areas of the bbls with wide & narrow gold bands & three flying gold doves on each bbl. Right bbl is inscribed in gold, “MADE TO ORDER, A.H. FOX” & left bbl “KRUPP – FLUID – STEEL”. The breech end of rib is inscribed in gold “.22 LONG RIFLE”. Bbl flats have serial number & caliber in gold. Forend iron is engraved to match with gold wire borders, gold plated ejectors with inside of forend iron also engraved with gold wire borders & serial number in gold. Bottom rear of forearm has a tiny gold oval engraved “DD” for Dave Dennis. Water table has an engraved triangle with a full gold wire border around edges, serial number in gold & three lines of patent markings in gold. There are also 3/4″ engraving patterns & narrow gold bands on each side of muzzle. Mounted with extraordinary & fabulous, exhibition quality, Circassian walnut with a tiny checkered & carved schnable tipped splinter forearm with horn insert & full checkered & carved straight stock with raised carved side panels with spear point tips & matching extraordinary carving at rear end of checkering, 14″ over a checkered butt with scalloped horn heel & toe plates. Accompanied by a custom built, buffalo hide-covered, oak case with white satin lining in lid that has maker’s name embossed in gold. Bottom is lined in red buffalo leather compartmented for stocked receiver & bbls with a lidded compartment containing three buffalo horn handled turn screws. Set also has sockets for two 22 LR shot cartridges & a brass screw top parts container. There is also a red buffalo leather divider embossed in gold with maker’s name & “.22 DOUBLE RIFLE”. Drop at heel: 1-3/4″, drop at comb: 1-1/4″. Weight: 4 lbs. .96 oz. CONDITION: As new, appears to be unfired, retains virtually all of its orig finish to both metal & wood. Crisp mechanics, brilliant shiny bores. Case is equally new with a minor scuff or two. 4-55467 JR172 (25,000-40,000)
