RARE JAPANESE DAISHO SET WITH SWORD STAND. 1) Katana blade: 27-1/4” long with a medium Sori, Chu Kissaki. Hamon is a Chugai base with bits of temper all over the blade, almost appears to be (Hitatsura) full temper. CONDITION: Some surface rust and spidering in some areas of the blade. Appears that it would take a polish. Nakago has one Megukiana. Nakagojri is single beveled. “Signature reads, “Nagasone Oki Sato Nyudo Kotetsu”. Kotetsu is a very important and rare swordsmith.” – HOWEVER, WE CANNOT AND WILL NOT GUARANTEE THE SIGNATURE AS GENUINE. 2) Wakizashi blade: 17-3/4” long with medium Sori, Chu Kissaki. Hamon is Midare Ji-Hada is indistinct. Nakago has one Megukiana with a rounded Nakagojire. CONDITION: Blade has two nicks, one at the point but very small. No major openings. Appears that it would take a polish. Nakago is signed and dated but very faint.

Bizen No Kuni Osufune Hichibeinojo Sukysada Saku. The date is very faint, but this smith made most of his swords between 1652 & 1655 in the Shinto period. The sword fittings on Katana and Wakizashi are matching. The Tsubas are round Shakudo with gold floral appliques. One applique is missing on the Katana. Matching Fuchi and Kashiras are Shakudo with gold birds, figures with a bow and arrow. Menukis are Shakudo with gold or brass, which are figures of warriors. The Tsuka displays old Sami with black silk wrapping which has become old and starting to fray and break in places, should be re-wrapped. Saya is ribbed 4” down from the throat. The rest of the Saya is reddish-brown with floral designs. Th Katana Saya is missing the butt cap. Both Sayas are unfortunately split in places. Comes with an old black lacquer sword stand decorated with bugs and butterflies and is in good condition.

I believe these swords are well worth restoration and are a handsome and important signed Daisho. 4-51045 PQ2 (10,000-15,000)
