*WHIMSICAL BOOK CASING FOR COLT SINGLE ACTION ARMY SHERIFF’S MODEL REVOLVER. Cal. 44 Spcl. SN SA42324. Created by Robert Evans, this unusual item has the appearance of a large blue leather-bound book, 2-1/4″ thick x 11″ x 9-5/8″ embossed in gold on the front cover “THE TEXAN’S GUIDE / TO MORAL PERSUASION” by Robert Evans. The inside is a well made, French fitted casing of wine colored ultra-suede with a compartment for the revolver, a pewter 4 oz. hammered hip flask and a cartridge block for six cartridges. The inside of the lid is a watercolor of mountain and desert scenes with the inscription in the center “Offer the Gentleman a Drink . . . If that fails . . . Shoot the Sonovabitch!!”. The revolver is a 3rd generation Sheriff’s model with 3″ bbl, having about class “D” coverage engraving of wonderfully executed intertwined foliate arabesque patterns with stippled background and 2-pc smooth pearl grips. The model and caliber on each side of the bbl are inlaid with gold and all the border edges have gold wire inlay. The bottom of the frame just above the serial number is signed “EVANS” & “FEGA”. The cartridges that are included are in 44 Mag with a “Texas” head stamp. CONDITION: Extremely fine, as new. Revolver is unfired and unturned. Grips are pristine.
