EDOUARD LEON CORTES (French, 1882-1969) “RUE DE LA PAIX-PLACE VENDOME”. Oil on canvas Paris scene shows a busy boulevard with pedestrians, horse drawn wagons, coaches, and one woman pushing a flower cart. The early evening scene shows a colorful sky with lit streetlamps. The tall monument centering the painting. Signed lower right. Housed in a fine reproduction gilt gesso decorated frame with wood gilt title & artist plaque by Guido Frames of Boston, MA. Accompanying the painting is a Certificate of Authenticity by Klein Art Gallery of West Hollywood, California. Signed by David Klein indicating the painting is circa 1955. Mr. Klein was the west coast agent for 12 years prior to the artist’s death in 1969. SIZE: 13″ x 18″. CONDITION: Very good with some inpainting. 9-23746 (15,000-25,000)
