ATTRACTIVE ANTIQUE AUSTRIAN COLD PAINTED BRONZ OF SPANISH AMERICAN SOLDIER. This well-detailed figure, very nicely painted, depicts a mustached officer, sword in hand, and bedroll wrapped over his shoulder. He wears a wide brimmed hat and a white polka dot blue bandanna around his neck. Probably made around the turn of the century or early 20th C. The base and back of soldier’s trousers both marked “Geschutze”. Also carries a monogram of a vase with a “B” on the side, probably for Franz Bergmann who is well know for producing small cold painted bronzes during that era. SIZE: 15-3/4” high (incl. base). CONDITION: Painted surface shows wear on high spots, but generally is very good. Delicate officer’s sword and scabbard, slightly bent. A great Span-Amer War item. 4-56690 (2,500-4,500)
