CONTINENTAL CARVED ROCOCO GILTWOOD PIER MIRROR. Mid-19th century. The rectangular plate within a molded surround surmounted by a pierced, double-shell crest flanked by ‘C’- and ‘S’-scrolled leaftips, joined to a shaped marble shelf on a conforming pierce-carved base, raised on molded cabriole legs, all covered with flowerheads and leaftips. SIZE: 9’10” overall h. x 37″ w. x 15″ d. CONDITION: Original gilding with later touch-ups. Some losses to scrolled gesso ornamentation in cresting.
