FINE EARLY COLT SINGLE ACTION ARMY REVOLVER. Cal. 45 Colt. SN 118096. Nickel finish, 5-1/2″ bbl, with 2-pc rampant Colt eagle hard rubber grips. Accompanied by a Colt factory letter identifying this revolver as having been shipped January 30, 1889 to Comminge & Giesler, Houston, TX. CONDITION: Good. Bbl retains traces of orig nickel in the sheltered areas, being mostly a silver/gray patina. Frame retains about 50% nickel finish with the balance gray metal color and light pitting. Cylinder retains 20-25% nickel finish being mostly gray metal color with light surface pitting. Grip frame and hammer also retain traces of nickel finish, strong on the butt strap with scattered light pitting. Grips are extremely worn with the right side being nearly completely smooth. Will not hold in the safety notch, otherwise mechanics are fine. Strong bright bore with scattered light pitting. This undoubtedly was a Texas cowboy’s daily companion for many, many years and saw lots of service. 4-53862 JR583 (2,000-3,000)
