CARVED JAPANESE IVORY FIGURE OF AN ARMORER. 19th century. The artisan in a crouched position striking a sword blade with a mallet. The blade gripped by pincers in his left hand. The armorer with black cap tied around his chin and with black leggings, a water bucket to the left of the anvil. Please note: Artist character mark impressed in cinnabar beneath anvil. SIZE: 5-3/4″ h. PROVENANCE: From a Florida Collection. CONDITION: In very fine condition with nice mellow patina. 9-22289 (1,000-1,500)
