FRAMED AUTOGRAPH: THOMAS EAKINS; ARTIST (American, 1844-1916). This collage incorporates a very important letter written to “L.W Miller” concerning the portrait of Mrs. William D. Frishmuth which is housed at the Philadelphia Museum of Art. It says in part “The first sketch and general perspective drawing are for convenience made one sixth the size of the picture…” and signed “Yours truly, Thomas Eakins”. Also included are two First Day Covers of Eakins and pictures of the painting mentioned in the letter along with a print of Eakins himself. Housed in a molded wood frame with white matte having eight cutouts. SIZE: Total: 19″ x 22″. PROVENANCE: Collection of Elwyn Dearborn, Medford, NJ & Portland, ME.
