FINE JAPANESE WATERCOLOR SCROLL. Possibly 2nd half, 18th century. This fine example depicting a day’s activities. All set within a dense landscape and with a veranda, in front of which are seated two dignitaries or members of royalty with their attendants. Further down are illustrated two traders with horse. Further down, an image of travelers with banner mounted on a horse. The scroll is marked on the back of the top with additional characters on the proper right side, approximately one quarter of the way down. SIZE: 72″ h x 32-1/2″ w overall; image 55-1/2″ h x 28″ w. CONDITION: Colors remain strong and condition remains good. The watercolor with multiple small losses to paper throughout. 9-22749 (1,000-1,500)
