ATTRIBUTED TO CAMILLE PISSARRO (French, 1830-1930) COLORS OF SPRING. Oil on canvas spring scene shows a backyard view looking up over a colorful swale to brightly colored bushes and trees half hiding a connected house with chimney. All under a blue and white cloud sky. Signed lower left “C Pissarro 85″. Housed in an antique gesso decorated gilt frame. REFERENCE: For painting with similar attributes, see Vol. II of the 2005 catalog raisonne on page 339, image 476 Verger, Effet de Soleil (Also, referred to in the 1939 Edition as No. 352). SIZE: 16-1/4″ x 13”. PROVENANCE: The painting belonged to Mrs. Elissa Nassy (DOD 2/18/09), a French horn player & a long time member of the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra, who traveled extensively in Europe. Mrs. Nassy left her entire estate including this painting and her apartment at 215 West 75th St. to the Julliard School. Mrs. Nassy’s Executor was Mr. Lawrence Linzer at 531 Main St. NY, NY. Julliard consigned Mrs. Nassy’s Pissarro to auction where our consignor purchased it. CONDITION: Very good. Recently cleaned with some minor inpainting. Signature appears to be contemporary to the painting. 9-24833 (10,000-15,000)
