ENGRAVED REMINGTON MODEL 1875 SINGLE ACTION REVOLVER. Cal. 44 WCF (44-40). SN 896. Nickel finish with 7-1/2” rnd bbl, usual markings with “44” on upper left forward part of frame. Mounted with 2-pc smooth ivory grips. Beautifully engraved in New York style with about 40-50% coverage intertwined, foliate arabesque patterns with diamond & dot patterns in the gullet on front edge of frame. Cyl, backstrap & triggerguard are engraved to match. This exact revolver is pictured on the cover of The Remington Society of America Journal, 2nd Quarter 2006. CONDITION: Fine. Retains 30-40% orig nickel, mostly in sheltered areas, with balance cleaned & polished to bright metal. Front sight is a replacement. Grips are sound showing heavy wear with a couple of large chips out of right side, showing some shrinkage and overall retain a medium ivory patina with some fine age lines. Hammer will not hold in safety notch or half cock and timing needs adjusting. Strong bore with fine pitting. Baldwin Collection 4-30012 JR133 (6,000-10,000)
