STEVEN DOHANOS (American, 1907-1994) “MONARCH OF THE GLEN”. Mixed media on board still life trompe d’oeil shows a shelf with barnboard backing having a group of items in a still life setting. A tacked poster “Monarch of the Glen” showing a buck deer and a print of an evening church. Three Christmas ornaments hang from above which are a large blue ball, another silver ball and a gold star. On the shelf below is a painted antique cast iron fire pumper wagon pulled by two horses, two small Christmas balls and a branch of ivy with red berries. Signed bottom right. Housed in its original gray painted shadowbox type frame with white liner. SIZE: 17-3/4″ x 23-3/4″. CONDITION: Some of the edges of the items have fine chipping on the bottom third of the painting. Surface dirt and one round silver dollar size stain to bottom. Probably could use a cleaning. 9-99014 (8,000-10,000)
