PAIR OF ELABORATE GOLD SHOULDER BOARDS ATTRIBUTED TO REICHSMARSCHALL HERMAN GOERING. Fine heavy cast gold shoulder boards consisting of the National Nazi eagle, one facing left and one facing right, clutching a wreath in their talons with a swastika in the center and crossed Reichsmarschall batons below. They are mounted on intertwined three strands of gold bullion braid with white felt over cardboard backing and have wire clasps. They are accompanied by reproduced plates #204 & #210 of some book, which show Goering wearing these epaulets. Also included is a signed statement dated “July 5, 1973”, in German, which is translated that a lady named “Elisabeth Hilty” of the village of Allendorf states that her husband, 1st Lt. Malcolm Sanford, received these epaulets personally from Herman Goering during the last days of the war at Monsdorf in 1945. The insignia on these shoulder boards are heavilygold-plated over brass. CONDITION: Extremely fine. Metal shows a few scratches and light use and retains fine detail. Braided gold bullion cord shows moderate wear with some light staining.
