UNSIGNED (19th Century or earlier) A REPRESENTATION OF THE NINE ROCKS. Unframed watercolor/gouache pages representing the first through 8th rock (9th missing). The pages are held within an outer binder and each is titled at top. 1) Shows a nighttime scene with a large rock having a medieval procession atop including a three-headed dragon, worshipers, fire breathing dragon with cities below. 2) Showing a large rock with small chapel atop, people falling off and a black dragon. 3) A rock with men and crosses in nighttime setting. 4) Flat top rock with city, church and figures atop. 5) A rock top with large campfire with people surrounding it. 6) A landscape with paths & figures. 7) A landscape with grass top having a figural fountain with figures and a sunrise. 8) A courtyard with man & anchor, statues, and gateway. SIZE: 15″ x 10-1/2″. CONDITION: 1) Previous repair to tear leaving glue residue. 2-8) Generally very good. 9-24185 (800-1,200)
