TWO JAPANESE CARVED IVORY FIGURAL GROUPS. Meiji Period; late 19th century. 1) Depicting a man with child. Both in two-tone decorated robes. Man is carrying a basket of eggs suspended above a rooster. A two character mark engraved on underside. 2) Caricature of a gentleman with flowing white beard, a frond fan in his left hand holding a figure on his shoulder who is pouring from a water bag. Impressed with a three character mark on underside. SIZE: 7″ h each. CONDITION: Both pieces are very good with undisturbed patina with minor soiling. 9-23480 (1,500-2,500)
