CIGAR BOX BELONGING TO NAPOLEON III. The standard type tobacco box being labeled by Bock Y Ca Habana. The boxes lid having written in old pen “Box of cigars made for the Emperor Nap 3rd-Sold for one dollar a piece given to Myron for a birthday gift”. The box has a needlework cushioned top that is now separated from it which a pen note relates to and is inscribed as follows “this is a cigar box which belonged to Napoleon III. It was embroidered by my great-grandmother ___ ? pieces of the red gown worn by my great-great-grandmother Margaret Eaton at a Court Ball attended by Napoleon III. Signed Frances Beaumont“. There are three other letters that accompany the piece; one relating to genealogy and two relating to the one family member. SIZE: 9-1/4″ x 6-1/2”. CONDITION: Box is as is with warped lid, some damage on edge and needlework and side pieces are detached but present. 9-94656 (500-1,000)
