*COLT SINGLE ACTION ARMY REVOLVER. Cal. 38 Colt. SN 324792. Blue & case colored with 5-1/2″ bbl and rampant Colt hard rubber grips. Accompanied by a Colt factory letter identifying this revolver as having been shipped November 13, 1912 to Schoverling, Daly & Gales, NY, NY in a shipment of two like guns. This revolver is pictured on page 151 of the book THE 36 CALIBERS OF THE COLT SINGLE ACTION ARMY, Brown, wherein he states that only 1,011 SAA’s were produced in this caliber before 1914. CONDITION: Very fine. Bbl & ejector rod housing retain 85-90% orig blue, thinning on the sides, strong & bright in the sheltered areas. Front sight has been shortened and is flat on top. Frame retains traces of case colors in the sheltered areas with the balance faded to silver with some light pitting around the forcing cone area. Cylinder retains 85-90% thin orig blue, bright in the flutes. Grip frame retains 25-30% strong orig blue with the straps a blue/gray patina. Grips are very fine with moderate wear. Mechanics are fine. Strong bright bore with a few spots of scattered light pitting. 4-53924 JR544 (4,500-6,500)
