ARTHUR BOWEN DAVIES (American, 1862-1928) “LAKE TAHOE”. Unsigned oil on wood panel scene shows a panoramic view of a lake with mountain backdrop and tall pine foreground. Titled on back of panel. Housed in a fine modern gesso decorated gilt frame. We have been told that these four Davies paintings were done during a 1905 trip to California. PROVENANCE: The Donelson Farquhar Hoopes Estate, Steuben, Maine. SIZE: 5-1/2” x 9-1/2”. CONDITION: Warped panel, very good. 9-70707 (1,000-3,000)
