PAIR OF CONTINENTAL TERRACOTTA BLACKAMOORS. Last quarter 19th century. Of Italian or French origin, the male and female figures, in native costumes, each with turban headdress and carrying a decorated amphora. Each standing barefoot on a naturalistic plinth, both paint-decorated overall. SIZE: Each approx. 27-1/2″ h. CONDITION: With old and original painted surfaces, both with chips in areas of sleeves, collars and fringed areas of clothing. Paint losses to female figure. Painted surfaces faded and soiled.
