2 MIDDLE EASTERN TEXTILES. 19th century. The FIRST, a square example with a central rondel of arabesque design, bordered with botehs on an indigo ground within multiple square panels, each uniquely woven with floral vinery and scrolling cartouches, the outer madder red border with a line of botehs, each panel woven separately then attached to the whole. The SECOND example, a panel in three sections, designed as a wall hanging, wrought in salmon and shades of indigo and beige, having an overall geometric design; decorated with stylized arrows, many woven with metallic thread. SIZE: FIRST: 4’11” x 4’10”. SECOND: 11′ x 4’1″. CONDITION: Both in as-found condition. 9-95548 (200-400)
