*SCARCE UNION SWITCH & SIGNAL MODEL 1911A1 SEMI-AUTO MILITARY PISTOL. SN 1087380. Cal. 45 ACP. Scarce & desirable with only about 130,000 of these pistols made in 1943, most of which saw extensive service throughout remainder of WWII, Korea & into the 1970’s. Few remain in all orig unaltered condition. It has usual markings on left side of slide with fixed sights & a “P” proof on top in front of rear sight. Frame has “RCD” (Lt. Col. R.C. Downie) inspector initials on left side above magazine release with a “P” proof below. Right side of frame has “UNITED STATES PROPERTY” above serial number with “M 1911 A1 U.S. ARMY” in front of slide lock stud hole. Accompanied an all blue “L” code magazine and fitted with full checkered brown plastic grips with large donuts. It has its orig “P” proofed High Standard bbl. CONDITION: Extremely fine. Overall retains 95-96% strong orig gray parkerized finish with light sharp edge wear & some thinning on front strap.
