CHINESE EXPORT ROSE MEDALLION PLATTER AND LARGE ROUND SHALLOW BOWL. 19th century. The oval platter with six reserves of court scenes alternating with floral decorated reserves of birds, butterflies and beetles centering a rondel and with a polychrome floral border. The bowl polychrome painted with clusters of peonies, fruit sprigs, exotic birds and butterflies. The central rondel with gilt Greek key border. SIZE: 2″ h x 17″ l x 13-3/4″ w; 2-1/2″ d x 16″ dia. respectively PROVENANCE: Descended through the family of Shepherd Brooks, Boston, MA. & Medford, MA. CONDITION: Platter with minor flecks around rim and some wear to gilding, otherwise very good.
