*COLOSSAL PARKER BROTHERS PH GRADE SIZE 6 FRAME WITH 40″ TWIST BARRELS. SN 94278. Cal. 8 ga. 40-1/2″ twist steel bbls, tapered concave rib with sgl sighting bead, extractors and dbl triggers. Top rib of bbl is marked “PARKER BROS MAKERS. MERIDEN CONN. TWIST”. The colossal size “6” frame has usual “P” grade engraving with “PARKER BROS” on each side, star shaped scroll around the screws, minimal scroll border, and small star burst of scroll on trigger plate. Mounted with nicely figured straight grain walnut, with some fiddle back, checkered pistol grip, Parker hard rubber gripcap, Parker’s dogs head hard rubber buttplate, checkered splinter forend. Bore measurements for 8 ga. are unavailable, drop at heel: 2-15/16″, drop at comb: 1-1/2″, weight 16lbs 9oz. LOP 14-3/16″. The book Parker Gun Identification & Serialization indicates as PT grade, hammerless, no extras, capped pistol grip, 8 ga., with 40″ bbls. According to the chart of known 8 ga Parkers taken from the Parker Story, there was a total of only 11 40″ 8 ga. produced, 8 of them being hammerless. CONDITION: Very good to fine. Bbls retain a dark brown twist pattern, with normal nicks, dings & scratches, and brighter under protected forearm area. The giant frame retains mostly a silver and brown patina with hints of faint case colors in protected areas. Stock is sound with a repaired crack on left side between the tangs, a couple hair line cracks behind top tang, good checkering, some typical nicks, scratches and shallow dents, retaining orig finish with hand worn finish in grip and comb area. Forend is sound with good checkering, minor nicks & dings, and retains orig finish with some hand worn patina. Mechanics are good with auto-safety, bores are not bad, but have some shallow scattered pits. 4-39758 BDT115 (6,000-10,000)
