ALFRED THOMPSON BRICHER (American, 1837-1908) COASTAL SCENE WITH LIGHTHOUSE, STEAMER AND SAILBOATS. Outstanding oil on canvas coastal scene shows waves breaking on large rocks on left side. Three sailboats are seen on horizon with a steam powered boat, possibly a ferry. Beyond the left rocks is an island with lighthouse having buildings and green fields. Light blue sky with white clouds. Housed in its original gilt oak frame with bead and rope decoration with two liners. Livingston Galleries, New York label attached to frame. PROVENANCE: Fresh to the market from a central Connecticut home. Possibly looking across from Portland toward one of Portland’s islands. SIZE: 18” x 39”. CONDITION: Two very small patches to reverse of canvas. Recently cleaned with very, very minor inpainted spots. 9-98469 (50,000-75,000)
