BENJAMIN ALBERT STAHL (American, 1910-1987) “CUPID IS A FAT DUENNA”. Saturday Evening Post illustration oil on masonite scene shows a young blond pirate standing in front of a woman in black with her daughter near a bounty of food spread forth for a picnic including jug of wine, fruits and bread. Two other pirates are seen beyond on a beach with a small boat having larger pirate ship beyond. Inscribed “To Captain Heffernan…” and signed lower right. Taped to reverse is a story tag from the Saturday Evening Post. Housed in a painted molded wood frame. SIZE: 24″ x 31-3/4″. CONDITION: Surface dirt, very good. 9-20369 (2,000-3,000)
