CLASSICAL ROSEWOOD SEWING TABLE, PROBABLY NEW YORK. Second quarter 19th century. The hinged rectangular lid with cut corners above the conforming cyma frieze, the interior fitted with compartments above four shaped supports headed by acanthus carvings, joined to an incurved medial plinth, raised on an urn-form acanthus-carved pedestal joined to the octagonal platform base, raised on four scrolled legs. SIZE: 29″ h. x 21-1/2″ w. x 17″ d. PROVENANCE: From an extensive private Gulf Coast collection. CONDITION: Retains old cleaned surfaces with good patina and color, minimal veneer chips.
