RARE DOOR OF HOPE “MANCHU WOMAN”. Perhaps the most elusive and difficult Door of Hope doll to acquire this particular example is in outstanding all original condition. She features a fanciful red silk long robe (no fading to silk), carved headdress with silk tassels and carved extremities including pedestal/stilt shoes. This doll portrays a rich noblewoman of Manchurian descent. The Manchurians had ruled China from 1644 till the 1911 revolution when Sun Yat-sen succeeded to take power. One of five examples of the famed Door of Hope dolls that are “fresh” to the market. They had been packed away for the last 40+ years in a Midwestern house and just recently the daughter decided to part with her mother’s treasures. SIZE: 11-1/4″ h.
