SPECIAL ORDER WINCHESTER MODEL 1873 LEVER ACTION RIFLE. Cal. 44 WCF (44-40). SN 59759. Standard grade rifle, early 2nd model with 26″ oct bbl, full magazine, half-nickel front sight and the early style semi-buckhorn rear sight with checkered edges. The dust cover rail is screwed on. It has uncheckered wood with replacement straight stock and homemade smooth brass buttplate. The lever latch and rear tang screw are missing. CONDITION: Very fine. Bbl retains 96-97% strong bright orig blue with sharp edges. Magazine tube retains 93-95% strong orig blue with fine surface rust and a couple of spots of heavier rust. Forend cap retains about 50% bright blue. Receiver and sideplates retain 75-80% strong bright orig blue with the balance flaked to a light patina. Lever & hammer retain most of their orig case colors turned dark. Forearm is orig and sound with light nicks & scratches and retains a fine hand patina. Buttstock has an area of fill back of the top tang and the lower tang screw is a replacement and retains overall a nice oil finish. Mechanics are crisp, brilliant shiny bore.
