*PARKER BROTHERS AHE GRADE SIDE BY SIDE SHOTGUN. SN 153850. Cal. 12ga, 30″ bbls, matted, tapered concave rib, dual ivory sighting beads, 3″ chambers, CYL/FULL chokes, ejectors and dbl triggers. Top rib of bbl is marked “PARKER BROTHERS. MAKERS. MERIDAN. CONN. ACME STEEL”. The “2” size frame is wonderfully engraved with 2 pointers on point on left side, 2 setters on point on right side, a bull & 2 cow elk running on foreplate, small vignette behind hinge pin on left side of 2 ducks in flight and right with 3 pheasants, bottom center with 2 setters, left fence has small vignette of duck and right a turkey with single rib behind fence. Each side has ribbon marked “PARKER BROS.” with balance of engraving a fine foliate arabesque scroll. Mounted with nicely figured walnut, checkered side panels, fleur-de-lis drop points, wrap-over checkered pistol grip, sculpted hard rubber grip cap with scroll engraved gold plate center, 1/2″ black solid Pachmyr recoil pad, custom-crafted checkered beavertail forend. Bore diameter: left -..736, right -.734. Bore restrictions: left -.040, right -.009. Wall thickness: left -.031, right -.032. Drop at heel:2-7/8″, drop at comb:1-9/16″ . Weight:7 lbs. 6oz. LOP 13-3/4″. The book Parker Gun Identification and Serialization identifies as A grade with ACME steel bbls, ejectors, capped pistol grip, 12ga with 30″ bbls. Accompanied with a hand-tooled H.H. Heiser basket-weave leg o mutton case. CONDITION: Good. Bbls retain a dark restored blue-black finish, few minor nicks & scratches and faint rub mark from forend. Top rib matting and lettering are slightly washed out. Frame has been polished & blued and retains nearly all of its custom blue finish. Water table is stamped with Austrian black powder and smokeless powder proofs and numbered 3300.53. Stock is sound with good checkering, two small hairline cracks behind top tang, a grain crack on right side just below center at buttplate, usual nicks, dings & handling marks and retains an oil finish blending with hand-worn patina. Custom beavertail forend has good checkering, some minor handling marks and retains a custom oil finish. Mechanics are crisp with automatic safety, strong ejectors, shiny bores with some light frosting near forcing cones. Case is solid with some loose stitching on bottom & lid and scuffing on edges. 4-39862 BDT64 (5,000-7,000)
