VERY RARE STEIFF MOUNTED TEDDY ROOSEVELT W/ HORSE. One of the rarest of Steiff creations is this incredible leaping appaloosa horse with glass eyes. Depicting Roosevelt as a Rough Rider during the Spanish-American War at the turn of the Century. The mohair covered horse with old saddle blanket, original leather saddle, which is fitted with leather bridle. Roosevelt is dressed in his military outfit with a composition painted head, complete with gloves and boots (hat is missing, likely shot off during courageous charge up San Juan Hill). He retains his original white Steiff tag on his pocket. SIZE: Horse approx. 38″ l., Roosevelt approx. 27″ t. CONDITION: Some of the black appaloosa spots have faded somewhat, mohair in generally good condition (slightly soiled). Roosevelt figure appears to be all good.
