NEW ENGLAND NEEDLEWORK SAMPLER WROUGHT BY RUTH R. REEVES, 1838 (Probably Massachusetts). With alphabet and numerical rows over the verse, “Years hurry quickly by and we are fading too and soon the year when we shall die will come upon our view”. Flanked by floral baskets above a manor house with trees and flowers flanked by eight pointed stars within a zigzag border. Note: some information relating to provenance on paper back of frame. PROVENANCE: From a Harpswell, Maine home. SIZE: 13-3/4” h x 13”w. CONDITION: With some discolored spotting, a hole 1/3” diameter left at mid point at top and overall fading, otherwise very good condition. 9-90084 SM (300-500)
