RARE AND IMPORTANT CHINESE ROSEWOOD FERN STAND. 1st third 19th century. The circular top with beaded edge inset with a fine conforming high glaze enameled plaque, the central rondel decorated with an animated four-toed dragon within cloud bands within an emerald green diaper surround filled with small polychrome painted floral rosettes within a border of hexagonal devices. The apron heavily carved with fruit and flowers raised on four carved cabriole legs joined by a floral square medial stretcher terminating in out-swept paw feet. Made for domestic market. SIZE: 18″ h x 12″ dia. (top); Overall: 15-1/2″ dia. CONDITION: Very good overall with good color and patina. Some losses to toes. 9-22315 (6,000-12,000)
