FINE MEISSEN PEDESTAL BOWL. Mid 19th century commemorative copy of a mid-18th century example. Bowl with gilt edge, the interior decorated with an array of assorted beetles and other insects, the exterior painted with butterflies, moths and other winged insects. Marked with underglaze blue crossed swords and a painted cinnabar triangle above a numeral 9. SIZE: 4-1/4″ h. x 8-3/4″ dia. PROVENANCE: From and East Sangerville, Maine private collection. CONDITION: Very good overall with wear to gilding on rim. 9-94966 (800-1,200)
