CHARLES DANA GIBSON (AMERICAN, 1867 – 1944) “THE SPINSTER’S REVERY”. . Pencil and graphite illustration shows an older woman seated in a large armchair in a room with fireplace and oriental rug. Her head is down, eyes are closed and she is dreaming of a scene that is lightly drawn in the room in front of her wherein she is standing as a young woman in front of a man who is kneeling with clasped hands presumably a marriage proposal. Signed lower right and titled on bottom margin. Housed in a silver wood modern frame with gray mat. This is pictured in “The Gibson Book I” “A Collection of the Published Works of Charles Dana Gibson, 1907″. SIZE: Sight size 16-3/4″ x 26-1/2”. PROVENANCE: Artist’s family by descent.
