QING DYNASTY ZITAN BRUSH POT. Second half of the 19th Century. The square brush pot or “bitong” with canted corners carved with scrolling vinery, each panel depicting a caries pastoral scene comprised of various inlaid hardwoods, semi-precious stones and abalone. SIZE: 6-1/2″ h x 5-1/4″ square. PROVENANCE: From the Private Collection of the Grand Niece of the Last Emperor Puyi (Reign 1906-1917) of the Qing Dynasty. Granddaughter of Puji and Great-Great Granddaughter of the Dowager Empress Cixi (Reign 1861-1908). CONDITION: Very good with original surfaces. No damages or restorations noted. 9-22155 (2,500-4,000)
