*EXCEPTIONAL EARLY COLT MODEL 1911 SEMI-AUTO MILITARY PISTOL. SN 26033. Cal. 45 ACP. Fine early 1911 (1913) with orig thin front sight & rnd top rear sight. Last patent on slide is “1911” and it has “MODEL OF 1911 U.S. ARMY” on right side. Left front side of frame has “U.S. PROPERTY” and the “WGP” (Maj. Walter G. Penfield) inspector mark above magazine release. Bbl is an orig “P” & “H” inspected bbl stamped perpendicular to the bore that has had skirt polished bright. Mounted with beautiful diamond checkered walnut grips & accompanied by an extremely early keyhole slot lanyard loop magazine. CONDITION: Exceptionally fine. Overall retains 97-98% strong, bright orig factory blue with only sharp edge wear & a few minor scratches on front strap & on top of slide in front of rear sight. Grips are crisp with one or two chipped diamonds and retain most of their orig finish. Mechanics are crisp, bright shiny bore. 4-35006 JR140 (4,000-7,000)
