ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: This storied Parker Bros. AHE was formerly owned and used extensively along the eastern seaboard by one of the most famous decoy collectors of all time, Dr. William Mackey. The gun is consigned from a direct descendant of Dr. Mackey. An affidavit attesting to this will accompany the gun. *UNUSUAL PARKER AHE GRADE SIDE BY SIDE SHOTGUN. SN 126961. Cal. 12ga, 32″ bbls, matted, tapered, concave rib, single brass sighting bead, 2-3/4″ chambers, FULL/FULL chokes, ejectors and dbl triggers. Top rib of bbl is marked “PARKER BROTHERS, MAKERS. MERIDAN, CONN. ACME STEEL”. The “2” size receiver is stunning relief engraved with oval with pointer in crouching point on left side, setter on point on right, 2 setters on trigger plate, each side has ribbon marked “PARKER BROS.”, balance is engraved with foliate arabesque scroll incorporated with flower blossoms, single rib behind fences. Mounted with nicely figured walnut, checkered side panels with fleur-de-lis drop points, wrap-over checkered pistol grip, hard rubber grip cap with gold plaque in center, Silvers recoil pad and checkered splinter forend. Bore diameter: left -.730, right -.730. Bore restrictions: left -.035, right -.034. Wall thickness: left -.021, right -.024. Drop at heel:2-3/4″, drop at comb:1-3/4″ . Weight:7 lbs. 13 oz. LOP 14-1/8″. Gun is accompanied with a Parker Collectors Assoc. letter identifying gun as a AHE 12ga ordered April 20, 1904 by Ed Steves and Sons of San Antonio, TX and shipped Aug. 23, 1904. It featured 32″ Titanic steel bbls with capped pistol grip stock. Ordered with 2″ pitch, Silvers pad, non-auto safety, dark stock and engraving shield “OTTO WAHRMUND SAN ANTONIO”. Specifications were for 14-1/8″ LOP, 2-3/4″ drop at heel, weight 7lbs 14oz., price was $300 plus $25 for ejectors and $4 for pad. The gun was back and forth to Parker a number of times. It was sold to J.R. Hull of New York, NY on Dec. 20, 1904, came back and was sold to Salem G. LeValley Co. of Buffalo, NY on Jan. 27, 1908, was returned and sold on Feb. 21, 1908 to E.K. Tryon of Phila., PA, returned and on Jan. 9, 1909 was sold to Chas. Parker Retail Store of New York, NY. CONDITION: Very good. Bbls retain a high polished restored blue finish. There is evidence of raised dents in both bbls, ribs appear to be solid. Frame has been lightly cleaned and retains a silver patina. Trigger guard retains nearly all of a high polished restored blue finish. Stock is sound with slightly worn checkering, numerous nicks, shallow scratches & small dents, retaining orig finish blending with hand-worn patina. Forend is sound with slightly worn checkering, minor nicks & dings, and retains orig finish blending with hand-worn patina. Mechanics are good with automatic safety, good ejectors with decent bores showing some spots of shallow, scattered pits. 4-40034 BDT45 (7,500-12,500)
