RARE COLT LONDON SINGLE ACTION ARMY REVOLVER. Cal. 44 S&W Russian. SN 67914. Blue & case colored with 5-1/2″ bbl, fixed sights with the Colt’s Hartford and London Agency Pall Mall addresses with rampant Colt hard rubber grips. The bbl is without caliber marking and it is stamped on the left front web of the trigger guard “R 44”. The back of the cylinder is stamped “14”, which corresponds to the last two numbers of the serial number. It is accompanied by a Colt factory letter identifying this revolver as having been shipped May 26, 1881 in a shipment of twelve guns to Colt’s London Agency, London, England. No English proofs were observed on the bbl or cylinder. CONDITION: Very good. Bbl retains 50-60% orig blue, bright & glossy in the sheltered areas with the balance flaked to a light patina. Ejector rod housing retains about 80% orig blue, bright & glossy in the gullets, flaked on the outer edge to a light patina. Frame retains traces of case colors in the very sheltered areas having been cleaned to a light gray patina. Cylinder retains small amount of orig blue, being mostly a blue/gray patina. Grip frame retains about 80% orig blue, bright & glossy in the sheltered areas, fading on the grip straps. Grips are sound and show moderate wear and have an “X” on the bottom of the left side. Frame is missing the grip pin. Mechanics are fine. Strong bright bore with two or three small spots of rust and one larger spot. 4-53915 JR545 (6,500-8,500)
