IMPORTANT QING DYNASTY CARVED RHINOCEROS HORN TIBETAN BUDDHIST TOWER. Possibly Kangxi (1662-1722). This fine example of obelisk form with floral and foliate carvings and with silver mounts at the corners of the medial plinth, each depicting a frog on a lily pad. The base additionally carved with Foo dogs and the plinth with scrolling vinery. The plinth is encased with a silver sheath impressed with a Yi dragon symbol. The Buddhist tower is accompanied by a beautiful hardwood presentation box with sliding cover. SIZE: 7-1/2″ h x 3″ square base. Box: 3-3/4″ h x 9-1/2″ l x 5″ w. PROVENANCE: Property of Prince Duan Aixinjueluo Zaiyi (1856-1922). From the private collection of the grandniece of the Last Emperor Puyi (reign 1906-1917) of the Qing Dynasty. Granddaughter of Puji and great-great granddaughter of the Dowager Empress Cixi (reign 1861-1908). CONDITION: In very fine or excellent original condition with lovely patina and rich coloration.
