FRANCIS AUGUSTUS SILVA (American, 1835-1886) EVENING SAIL IN NEW YORK HARBOR. Outstanding oil on wood panel scene shows several single mast sailboats sailing right to left along with two large riverboats on tranquil water. A forest of large ship’s masts are seen on right side, several having lights. The colorful sky changes from light yellow to bright orange. A crescent moon is seen with only scattered clouds. Signed lower right “F. A. Silva”. Housed in a black and gold Eastlake design frame. SIZE: 7” x 17-3/4”. CONDITION: Very good. 9-98972 (12,500-17,500)
