RARE QING DYNASTY CARVED AMBER COLORED SOAPSTONE COVERED FRUIT DISH. First half 19th century. Impressed with 6 character Kangxi mark (1662-1722). The lid with a deeply carved central rondel depicting a Qilin, further surrounded by carved bands of Chi-Dragons. The conforming base with a band of stylized confronting dragons, in pairs, on an incised ground. Within the footrim of the base, the reign mark is flanked by rows of Chinese characters. Please note that throughout this covered dish are series of Chinese characters. SIZE: 4-1/4″ h x 9-1/2″ dia. PROVENANCE: Property of Prince Duan Aixinjueluo Zaiyi (1856-1922). From the private collection of the grandniece of the Last Emperor Puyi (reign 1906-1917) of the Qing Dynasty. Granddaughter of Puji and great-great granddaughter of the Dowager Empress Cixi (reign 1861-1908). CONDITION: Overall very fine with rich warm coloration throughout. 9-22144 (10,000-15,000)
