RARE COLT SINGLE ACTION ARMY FLAT TOP TARGET REVOLVER. Cal. 32-44 S&W. SN 127730. Rare flat top target in an unusual cal (ther were only 9 made) with 7-1/2″ bbl, rectangular base front sight with replacement German silver blade and fixed rear sight on the flat top strap. It is fitted with rampant Colt hard rubber grips. Accompanied by two Colt factory letters, one dated 1958 and the other 2004. Both provide identical information and identify this revolver exactly. It was shipped October 12, 1888 to Hibbard Spencer Bartlett & Co., Chicago, IL in a shipment of three identical revolvers. The early letter provides additional information that the other two serial numbers in that shipment were 127725 & 127726. CONDITION: Good. No orig finish remains being a smooth even dark gray patina on the bbl & cylinder with the frame & grip frame being a nice plum patina, with light pitting on the front part of the cylinder and forcing cone area of the frame. Grips show heavy wear but are intact and match the revolver. Screws are all fine; with the cylinder pin end worn & damaged and the cylinder pin screw a replacement. Back edge of the cylinder is marked “30”. Timing needs adjustment, otherwise mechanics are fine. Strong bore with fine pitting in the grooves. Bore has six grooves with left hand twist. 4-53920 JR536 (5,500-7,500)
