FINE AMERICAN HEPPLEWHITE MAHOGANY BUTLER’S SECRETARY. Circa 1810. In three parts, the arched cove-molded crest fitted to the center bookcase section having a pair of astragal-glazed doors with geometric panels stepped back on the lower case, the rectangular molded top fitted with four long reverse-graduated cockbeaded drawers, the topmost hinged with a tooled leather writing surface, fitted with an arrangement of four drawers over eight valanced cubbyholes, the whole raised on tapered bracket feet centering a shaped apron. SIZE: 92″ h. x 43″ w. x 22″ d. CONDITION: Professionally repolished, with very good color; no damages or repairs noted. Retains original stamped “thistle” brass hardware. 9-92346 (4,500-6,500)
