PARKER BROTHERS LIFTER ACTION U GRADE HAMMER SHOTGUN. SN 12870. Cal. 12ga, 32″ bbls, tapered, concave rib, FULL/IMP.MOD chokes, 2-9/16″ chambers, extractor and dbl triggers. Top rib reading from chamber to muzzle is marked “PARKER BROS. MAKERS. MERIDEN CONN. DAMASCUS STEEL”. The unique lifter action has modest scroll engraving on plates and marked “PARKER BROS.” on each side with a circle and 2 game birds on bottom. Mounted with nicely figured walnut, checkered pistol grip, sculpted hard rubber grip cap with checkered center, blank gold oval on top of wrist, smooth steel buttplate and checkered forend with single retaining wedge. Bore diameter: left -.754, right -.755. Bore restrictions: left -.033, right -.025. Wall thickness: left -.046, right -.045. Drop at heel:3-5/8″, drop at comb:2″. Weight: 8lbs. 8oz. LOP 14-1/2″. This gun is not identified in the book Parker Gun Identification and Serialization. CONDITION: Fine. Bbls retain a strong, dark brown Damascus pattern, some minor thinning at muzzle, some minor thinning at forend area from carrying and normal, minor nicks & dings. The receiver retains orig case colors on body with some minor spots of surface oxidation. Plates have thinned and turned a silver patina. Stock is sound with good checkering, normal nicks & dings, a couple shallow depressions on left side and retains a fine, hand-rubbed oil finish. Forend is sound with worn checkering, nicks, dings & scratches and retains an open-grain oil finish blended with hand-worn patina. Mechanics are crisp with decent bores with a few, minor shallow pits. 4-40159 BDT102 (2,500-3,500)
