FRENCH BRASS PETITE SONNERIE REPEATING CARRIAGE CLOCK. Early 20th century. Rectangular brass case, enamel dial with Arabic numerals and subsidiary alarm dial, the twin barrel movement with dual striking coils and three hammers, the backplate engraved with the initials “LF” in script, possibly for Louis Fernier; also engraved “7962”. Case surmounted by a scrolled handle, beveled glass panel and repeater button, each side a beveled glass panel mounted within engaged, fluted, acanthus-carved columns. With winding key and setting key. SIZE: 4-1/2″ h. of clock. 6-1/2″ overall h. PROVENANCE: From and East Sangerville, Maine private collection. By descent from Caroline Wetmore Davidson Hiles, to the present owner, a great-granddaughter. CONDITION: Case and movement appear to be in very fine condition overall. Subsidiary dial with stress cracks, front beveled glass panel with shell fracture at upper right corner facing. Two of the three hammers appear not to reach the coil in the act of striking. 9-94934 (500-700)
