*RARE EXPERIMENTAL WINCHESTER MODEL 21 PIGEON GRADE DBL BBL SHOTGUN. Cal 24 ga. SN EX29300. Extremely rare Model 21. One of only a very few ever made with 28” ventilated rib bbls, choked IMP CYL/MOD, red ivory bead on flat side receiver, ejectors and single selective trigger. The bbl water table is marked with the serial number on one side and stamped “24 gauge 2-3/4 IN. CHAM” on the other. Wood is very highly figured center crotch cut walnut with “A” carving, beavertail forearm and straight stock with checkered butt. Receiver is engraved with vignettes of a setter on the left side, a pointer on the right side and two pheasants on the floorplate. Trigger bow has a dog’s head and lower tang has “PIGEON GRADE” in gold. Vignettes are all surrounded with arabesque patterns and the fences are engraved with deep relief oak leaves. Arabesque patterns extend about 3” over the chamber areas. The standing breech, bbl lug, bbl water table, forend catch, and inside the forend iron are all nicely jeweled. Receiver water table has lightening cuts. There is an oval gold toe plate. Accompanied by its original red and yellow hang tag overstamped “Pigeon” “Experimental” and “Select Wood”. Also accompanying is its original box including the original end label, which unfortunately was cut into pieces by the consignor’s housekeeper, thinking it was trash. With some minor skill and a little time the box can be restored. NOTE: Ammunition available through Fiocchi. Weight 6 lbs 11.5 oz. CONDITION: Extremely fine, as new. Appears unfired with minor scrapes on the standing breech. Otherwise retains virtually all its original factory finish to metal and wood. Brilliant shiny bores with one spot of minor scuffing in the right bore. Box is as previously described. 4-50947 JR1 (25,000-40,000)
